Great Orme Tramway

Delighting visitors since 1902, you can’t miss Llandudno’s premier heritage attraction and Britain’s only cable-hauled road tram. The Tram takes you on a picturesque, breath-taking one-mile journey to the summit of the Great Orme Country Park and Nature Reserve, where on a clear day, views stretch as far as the Isle of Man, Blackpool and the Lake District.

Your journey begins at Victoria Station, located a short distance from Llandudno’s North Shore and pier. Board one of the beautifully restored Victorian tramcars and begin your ascent through the winding roads of the Great Orme with stunning views of Llandudno’s sweeping bay.

At the Halfway Station, you can learn about the remarkable history of Victorian engineering and observe the powerful funicular system in action. Climb aboard another beautifully restored tramcar to complete your journey to the summit, look out for the wild Kashmir Goats and the rare Silver Studded Blue Butterflies. Once you reach the top, relax and take in the amazing views or explore the Great Orme many attractions.

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway

The Ffestiniog Railway takes you from the harbour in Porthmadog to the slate-quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog. The world's oldest steam engines, Prince and Palmerston, are still in regular use after more than 150 years! This year, with the addition of yet more new carriages, there's never been a better time to experience Snowdonia from our railways.

The Welsh Highland's comfortable trains start their spectacular 26 mile journey from beneath the castle walls at Caernarfon, climbing through the foothills of Snowdon before reaching the picturesque village of Beddgelert, the magnificent Aberglaslyn Pass and finally Porthmadog,

Spooner’s, our award-winning pub and restaurant at Porthmadog, features an attractive beer garden where passengers can relax and watch the trains go by. The café at Tan y Bwlch also offers hot and cold food and is an ideal starting point for a number of delightful woodland walks.

Set on an active airfield, the museum houses iconic machines such as the Hawker Hunter, D.H Vampire, along with the only T2 BAe Harrier remaining worldwide. Please see our website for latest additions to the collection.

Part of the museum is devoted to the creation of the RAF Mountain Rescue Service, started here at RAF Llandwrog in 1942, whilst other sections describe the wartime airfields of North Wales. The gift shop sells model kits, remote control helicopters, quadcopters (drones), rockets and souvenirs.
