Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw Gallery
Llanbedrog
The gallery is set in a Gothic Victorian mansion
built in 1857 as a Dower house for Lady
Elizabeth Jones Parry of the Madryn Estate. The
house was purchased in 1896 by Cardiff
entrepreneur Solomon Andrews who transformed the
area into a tourist hotspot. Plas Glyn-y-Weddw
has served as a public arts venue for much of
the last century thanks to Solomon’s vision.
Today the gallery is owned and managed by an
independent charitable trust. It has over 1200
friends of the gallery and over 90 volunteers.
In 2008 the charity bought back the adjacent
11-acre forest that housed a network of
sculpture trails up to the end of the
second-world-war. Thanks to funding from the
Welsh Assembly Government the work to re-open
the trails has been under way. The path from the
Gallery to the Iron Man is already open and very
popular.
The popular award winning gallery, tea room and
craft shop attracts over 80,000 visitors
annually and is a favourite art destination for
many people – well worth a visit.

Dolphins.
Our nature cruises take us to beautiful
coves, spectacular cliffs and around magnificent
off-shore islands, including the St Tudwals',
Gwylans and Bardsey. We also undertake diving
charters for clubs and groups along the same
coastline.
